Hi Neighbor!

Just a bit about me: Volunteerism and community engagement are important to me because I am a true believer that neighborhood enhancement comes by neighbors sharing ideas and working together to improve the quality of life and services available within community. As one of the founders of the Historic Anacostia Block Association (HABA), it is my focus for the organization to continue to have a positive impact on the community and collaborate with other neighborhood organizations in working towards a brighter WARD 8.

Why I love Anacostia: When people ask me where I live, I say I am a proud resident of WARD 8, residing in Historic Anacostia. WARD 8 is truly the best community in the District of Columbia! We have the best neighbors, the most beautiful homes and the most active organizations in all of Washington, DC.

My Favorite Places in Anacostia: The Frederick Douglass Home, The Anacostia Community Museum, and Anacostia Park. Also, I can stand just about anywhere in the community and have the perfect view of the City!

Just a bit about me: My journey has taken me from the Midwest to the best community in the nation’s capital, Historic Anacostia! I moved to this neighborhood in 2004 and continue to share smiles with my neighbors! It only makes life more meaningful to live among people deeply engaged in relationships and working to build our neighborhood that includes our homes, schools, stores, and churches. As one of the founders of HABA, it is a joy to be invested in the transformative acts that have bonded neighbors and created friends.

Reason for moving to Anacostia: I wanted to plant roots in Washington, DC and belong to a community with friendly neighbors.
